National distribution and services group

Data Analyst

AI & DataFull-timeHybridNorwich, UKPosted 1 week ago

Turn commercial data into decisions. You will own reporting for a business unit, build dashboards and present findings to non-technical stakeholders.

£28,000 – £35,000

About the role

You sit inside a central analytics team but are embedded with one business unit, owning its reporting end to end. That means you are not just pulling numbers — you are the person who explains what they mean. A typical week involves refreshing dashboards, building one deeper piece of analysis (churn, pricing, operational performance) and presenting it to managers who are smart but not technical. A senior analyst reviews your work and teaches you the craft of commercial storytelling with data. The role is based in Norwich on a hybrid pattern of two to three days on site, and the employer recruits actively from across the wider region.

About the employer

The employer is a national distribution and services business with around 2,000 employees. The analytics function is only three years old, which means real influence: the dashboards you build will be the first reliable numbers some departments have ever had. They fund professional certifications, run a quarterly internal data guild and have a stated goal of making every team data-literate within three years.

What you will be doing

  • Build dashboards and recurring reports in SQL and a BI tool
  • Clean, model and validate data from multiple source systems
  • Own monthly performance packs for your business unit
  • Present insight to commercial and operations teams
  • Support forecasting and performance reviews
  • Document data definitions so numbers stay trusted

What they are looking for

  • Working knowledge of SQL and spreadsheets
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • An analytics certificate, degree or equivalent hands-on experience

Nice to have

  • Python or R
  • Power BI, Looker or Tableau
  • Experience with A/B testing

Where this leads

Analyst → Senior Analyst (2–3 years) → Analytics Manager, or specialise into data science or BI engineering. Certification funding continues at every level.
